Graeme Mackie - Clarence River Journey
Few would argue that we live in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia, if not the world, but we don’t always realise that the common source of our beauty is the wondrous Clarence River. Most of us have enjoyed exploring its many moods and aspects, and the Clarence has long been a source of delight to the many artists and art lovers who have traversed its diversity.
Graham Mackie is one such highly talented, professional artist, who constantly lives and breathes the aura of this river from his property at Coombadjah Creek, near the source of both the Mann and Clarence Rivers. Graham’s paintings, drawings and photographs all celebrate the passage of the mighty Clarence in its long journey to the Pacific Ocean.
His “River 2 Sea” exhibition at Yamba’s arthouse australia gallery last year, was a real winner and many enthusiasts have demanded more of his unique works. Graham’s discerning eye and highly visual style have combined to create a host of new paintings, and the good news is that his latest exhibition, “Clarence River Journey” will have its official opening on May 30 from 6-8pm at arthouse australia, Coldstream St, Yamba.
Graham’s exhibition will feature 20 recent paintings, 10 pencil drawings and 20 magnificent photographs portraying our beloved Clarence River area. All of these works were completed between 2000 and 2008, and they reflect Graham’s affinity with an area unsurpassed in its natural beauty.
All art lovers are welcome to attend the official opening, view the exhibition and meet Graham Mackie and Melinda Gibbs, the popular proprietor of arthouse australia, who has been singularly responsible for encouraging many talented artists in the Clarence area.
If you can’t come along to the official opening, the “Clarence River Journey” exhibition runs from May 26 to June 28 and can be seen between 9.30am and 5pm Tuesdays to Fridays, Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, or by appointment with Melinda on 6646 1999. Alternately visit the website at www.arthouseaustralia.com.
Don’t miss it! It’s a very worthwhile exhibition from a highly talented artist with a fond perception of our local area.
